FROM tail-spinning towards the relegation quagmire to play-off contenders courtesy of three straight wins is quite a recovery and a home game with out-of-form Queen of the South on Saturday looks to be an ideal game for the Pars to add a fourth victory.

Dunfermline are 4/5, a draw 27/10 (Betfair Sportsbook) and the Doonhamers 18/5 (Hills). The bookies are not giving much away and it would not be a total surprise in this unpredictable division to see Queens arrest their five-match skid but current form suggests only one outcome.

Prediction: Dunfermline 2 Queen of the South 0.

There is a bonus for Scottish Championship fans as BBC Scotland are broadcasting the Morton versus Falkirk fixture at Cappielow tomorrow (Friday) night (7.05pm kick-off). The ’Ton are 23/20, a draw 23/10 (Betfair Sportsbook) and the Bairns 13/5.

The Scottish Cup quarter-finals are the weekend’s highlight and Celtic are even money favourites to win the competition outright. Rangers are 7/2 (Betvictor), Aberdeen 8/1,Hibernian 11/1, Hearts 12/1, Dundee United 33/1 and both Inverness and Partick 50/1. Most firms are still paying each way terms at ⅓ odds, place 1, 2.

All the games are televised, either on Premier Sports or BBC Scotland. Hibernian versus Celtic at Easter Road is the Saturday tea-time game (Premier 1, 5.15pm), a clash that could conceivably be the Bhoys’ toughest test in the competition. The Glaswegians are 11/20 (Betvictor), a draw 16/5 and the Hi-Bees 5/1.

Sunday lunchtime is the Aberdeen and Rangers battle at Pittodrie (Premier 1, 1.30pm). The Dons are 14/5 (Skybet/Betvictor), a draw 12/5 and Rangers even money.

Immediately after that clash is the all-Championship contest between Dundee United and Inverness Caledonian Thistle at Tannadice (BBC1 Scotland, 3.30pm). The Terrors are 11/10, Caley 13/5 and it is 12/5 the match finishes all square.

Partick Thistle and Hearts is a Monday night game at Firhill (BBC Scotland, 7.05pm). The prices are the Jags 5/1, a draw 16/5 and the Jambos 11/20 (Betvictor).

The Champions League first batch of last 16 matches are resolved next week although Borussia Dortmund have a mountain to climb to reverse their 0-3 first-leg deficit against Tottenham on Tuesday (BT Sport 2, 8pm). The Germans are evens to win on the night, Spurs are 27/10 (Hills) and a draw 29/10 (Betvictor).

Real Madrid are in control of their tie with Ajax (BT Sport 3, 8pm) as a 1/8 price (Bet365/Skybet) that they qualify for the quarter-finals would indicate. The match odds for the game at the Bernabeu are Real 4/6 (Skybet), a draw 16/5 and Ajax 24/5 (Hills).

Manchester United look like they are out with the washing in terms of further progress in the competition but you can get 20/1 (Bet365) that they somehow qualify at the Parc de Princes on Wednesday (BT Sport 2, 8pm). The 90-minute odds are Paris Saint Germain 8/15, a draw 7/2 and United 11/2.

The night’s other game is nicely poised with Roma attempting to defend a 2-1 lead in Portugal. Porto are 11/10 to win on the night with both Roma and the stalemate 13/5. Roma are 4/7 (Skybet) to advance to the next round, Porto 6/4.
