BOXING fans will have the opportunity to meet a former world champion this summer after it was confirmed Tyson Fury will visit the Alhambra Theatre.

Last week, Press Sport revealed that the 'Gypsy King' had been pencilled in to visit Dunfermline on July 6 as part of a UK tour organised by Gold Star Promotions, but details of the venue were still to be announced.

Over the weekend, both Gold Star and the Alhambra have confirmed that the town centre venue will host one of three Scottish dates – with the others being in Glasgow and Dundee – in which Fury will speak about his career in the ring.

Tickets, which go on sale this morning at 10am, will offer fans the chance to meet the 30-year-old, secure a prized photograph and hear about a career that saw him become world heavyweight champion.

In 2015, Fury won the unified WBA (Super) IBF, WBO, IBO, Ring magazine and lineal heavyweight titles by defeating long-reigning world champion Wladimir Klitschko.

The following year, he vacated the WBA, WBO, IBO and lineal titles after suffering from mental health issues, which led to alcoholism and recreational drug use.

However, he returned to the ring last year to challenge for the WBC heavyweight title against Deontay Wilder in a bout that is widely considered to be one of the best fights of recent years.

It ended in a draw and Fury’s performance, which included him recovering from a heavy knockdown in the final round, earned him a string of awards, including the WBC Comeback and Fight of the Year accolades, and it is anticipated a rematch will take place.

Tickets, which cost £35, £75 or £175, can be bought by calling the Alhambra box office on 01383 740384, or online – where more information is available – at www.goldstarpromotions.co.uk, or www.ticketmaster.co.uk.
