DUNFERMLINE will face Lowland League East Kilbride after the draw for the Betfred Cup group stage was made this afternoon.

Stevie Crawford's side have been drawn in Group H of the competition, which kicks off over the weekend of July 13-14, alongside St Mirren, Albion Rovers, Edinburgh City as well as Kilby.

Athletic were second seeds in the south section of the draw, which featured each SPFL team except Celtic, Rangers, Kilmarnock and Aberdeen, who have qualified for European football, as well as East Kilbride and Berwick Rangers, who were relegated from League Two at the end of the season.

St Mirren, who retained their Premiership status with a penalty shoot-out win over Dundee United in Sunday's play-off final, are the top seeded team in the group and won the last League Cup meeting between the sides.

That came in the second round in 2014, when Ross Caldwell's double saw the Paisley side overturn Lewis Spence's opener at the Simple Digital Arena.

Pars' meeting with East Kilbride, who boast former Dunfermline players Craig Reid and Graeme Holmes in their squad, and who finished 18 points ahead of Kelty Hearts last season, will be a first between the clubs, while they have not faced Edinburgh City since a spectacular 7-2 Scottish Cup success in 1997.

They will also take on Albion Rovers, now managed by ex-Pars winger Kevin Harper, for the first time since the triumphant League One campaign of 2015/16, with the last match resulting in a 1-0 Athletic success at Cliftonhill after the title was wrapped up.

The full fixture list will be confirmed in due course.
