JACKSON Longridge has left Dunfermline Athletic today (Thursday) after the club agreed terms with Bradford City.

The Pars announced that the left-back had attracted offers from a 'number' of English clubs in recent weeks, and they have now confirmed a mutual compensation arrangement with the League Two side.

The 24-year-old has signed a two-year-deal with the Bantams.

Pars head coach, Stevie Crawford, told the club's official website: "Jackson had a consistent season last year and he has attracted quite a bit of attention in the close season. We felt that we could not stand in his way to join a club the size of Bradford.

"It could kick-start his career by giving him the opportunity to go down and play in England.

“We wish Jackson all the best and now there is an opportunity for other players at the club.

"Lewis Martin has played that position for us for a number of years and it might be that is the opportunity now that allows Lewis to kick on and become a regular in the team.”

Longridge was an ever-present figure for Athletic during the 18/19 season, making 41 appearances across all competitions.

He also scored five goals during his time at East End Park, with his four strikes in the league making him the team's second top goalscorer during the campaign.

Speaking to Bradford City's official club website, Longridge stated the move was a 'no-brainer'.

He said: "As soon as I heard about the interest from the club it was a no-brainer for me.

“I could not wait to come down and get signed - I am really pleased.

“I am looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and seeing how the recruitment goes from here.

“This is a very strong club and we need to get it back to where it belongs.

“I am excited to see the supporters and, hopefully, we can do them proud.

“After speaking with the manager, he has made it clear I am the kind of player he is looking for.

“He has given me a chance I am very grateful for. It is up to me now to prove him right.”

He will join another ex-Par at Valley Parade after former centre-back Ben Richards-Everton signed for the club last month.

The English defender left Dunfermline in the summer of 2017 before signing with Accrington Stanley.
