ACROBAY's gymnasts Erin Henderson, Sacha Muir and Chloe Rowlands will represent club and country at this year's European Games.

The Rosyth club trio will form part of the 15-strong gymnastics Great Britain squad competing in Belarus this month.

Erin, Sacha and Chloe, who were named Scottish Gymnastics’ Junior Gymnasts of the Year, have been on a remarkable journey over the past few years.

Last year, they competed as part of Team GB at the Acrobatic World Championships in Belgium, where they finished in an outstanding fourth place, and they continued their success this year by representing Great Britain at the Acrobatic World Cup in Portugal.

And now this selection, as the sole representatives of their discipline in Team GB, is the next step in their adventure.

They are among 101 athletes across 11 sports who will represent their country in Minsk, the capital city of Belarus.

Their team-mates in the gymnastics squad include Georgia-Mae Fenton, Jake Jarman and Olympians Brinn Bevan and Becky Downie.

They will join more than 4,000 athletes from 50 countries who will compete in 200 different medal events across 10 days, with the opening and closing ceremony being held in the Dinamo National Olympic Stadium.

The British team includes 25 returning Olympians from the last three summer Olympic Games as well as athletes from two non-Olympic gymnastics disciplines.

Suzanne Fraser, Acrobay’s head coach, said: "This is an amazing achievement for the girls, the club, the coaches and of course, for the entire Scottish Gymnastics community.

"Not only are they the only Scottish partnership to be selected for the European Games, they are also the only acrobatic partnership in the whole of Great Britain to be selected. To say that the whole club are proud and excited is a bit of an understatement! We can’t wait to see them out there representing club and country."

The 2019 European Games will be held in the Belarussian capital from next Friday, June 21, to June 30.

The event will be broadcast on BT Sport, with daily, live coverage of the action throughout each day of the competition.
