DUNFERMLINE’S back-to-back victories over Partick and Ayr have vaulted them into the top four and they have a decent opportunity to cement their position with a home game against Morton on Saturday.

The Ton had been gradually slipping down the table before last week’s win against Arbroath snapped a three-game losing streak. The bookies predict that the points stay in Fife: the Pars are 88/100 (Hills); a draw 11/4 (Skybet) and Morton 14/5.

A home win appears to be the obvious solution but Dunfermline have disappointed enough times this season at cramped odds and you can let them win at the prices. A sporting alternative is that the points are shared.

Prediction: Dunfermline 1 Morton 1.

The Betfred Cup final takes place on Sunday (BT Sport 1, 3pm) and it is an Old Firm final. Celtic are expected to maintain their recent dominance over their fiercest rivals: they are 6/5 to win in 90 minutes, Rangers are 23/10 with the sponsors and a draw is 13/5 (Betway). Bet365 make the Bhoys 4/7 to lift the trophy while the Gers are 5/4.

The first goalscorer market (Bet365 prices) is very competitive with the leading players odds as follows: Odsonne Edouard 9/2, Jermaine Defoe 5/1, Leigh Griffiths 5/1, Alfredo Morelos 11/2, Greg Stewart 13/2, Ryan Christie 13/2, Marian Shved 7/1, Michael Johnston 15/2, Scott Sinclair 15/2, Vakoun Bayo 15/2 and 8/1 bar. More than 2.5 goals are 17/20 (Unibet/Hills) while under is evens (Bet365/Skybet). Both teams to score (90 minutes) are 4/6 and neither or only one to score is 5/4 (Skybet).

Other markets on offer include method of victory; the best 90-minute prices are listed above and Skybet list the other possibilities as Celtic winning in extra time 10/1, Rangers in extra time 12/1 and the teams to triumph on penalties 12/1 each. Skybet also have a few specials: Celtic to score in the first 10 minutes 11/2, Rangers to do likewise 7/1 and Rangers or Celtic to score at least twice in the first half 7/1. The Bhoys are 18/1 with Bet365 to miss a penalty (in normal time), the Gers to suffer that fate are 20/1.

Given that the two teams are virtually inseparable at the top of the league, the value lies with a tight encounter and Rangers to ultimately prevail.

Prediction: Celtic 1 Rangers 1 (Rangers to win on penalties).
