IN-FORM Athletic striker Kevin Nisbet has been rewarded for his red-hot scoring streak with November's Ladbrokes Championship Player of the Month award.

The 22-year-old, who joined in the summer from local rivals Raith Rovers, took his tally for the campaign to 16 with his winning goal at Ayr United on Tuesday night (see Craig Brown's photo below).

That effort, which gave Dunfermline a fifth win in seven league matches, took Stevie Crawford's side into fourth place and came on the back of a four-goal show against Partick Thistle on Saturday.

Nisbet struck a first half treble - which included two spot-kicks - in the 5-1 demolition of the Jags, before adding his fourth and Pars' fifth after the break.

He scored six times during the month, which included a double against Queen of the South and a strike at Alloa, and has netted nine in his last six appearances.

Nisbet's form has led to national reports crediting other clubs, including Rangers, with an interest but the striker told Press Sport last week his focus was on maintaing his good form at East End.

"It's always going to be flattering if there's interest, but I've said before it's nothing more, nothing less than a wee bit interest," he said.

"It's not going to put me off my game or make me worry about what's going to happen in January. My full focus here is Dunfermline and trying to get us goals and wins."

His boss, following the victory at Somerset Park, told Press Sport this week: "Strikers know, when they're in a good vein of form, that it's team-mates who produce and help you get chances.

"I'm sure if you were speaking to Kevin, he'd be the first to say that, collectively, he feels the team are creating chances for him."

Nisbet's accolade is the first divisional monthly prize awarded to a Pars player since former striker, Nicky Clark, was named the Championship Player of the Month in March 2018.
