ARSENAL manager Mikel Arteta has played down a warm-up injury sustained by Scotland internationalist Kieran Tierney before his side's 2-1 win over West Ham on Saturday.
The former Celtic full-back pulled up pre-match and had to sit the game out, prompting fears the defender may miss Scotland's upcoming Euro 2020 play-off fixture against Israel at Hampden next month.
Tierney has suffered from a series of injuries in recent seasons that have resulted in significant spells on the sidelines, but Arteta was quick to point out that the incident on Saturday afternoon was fairly innocuous.
"Kieran is fine," he said. "He had a little muscular discomfort in the last few days. He tried today and worked in the warm-up but he wasn't feeling comfortable today.
"Well, we could not control it. We believed that he was going to be fit but during the warm-up, in the last 10 minutes, he said he wasn't feeling OK. We had to make a decision. We were prepared just in case and Kola came on and had a good game."
