DUNFERMLINE manager Stevie Crawford and captain Euan Murray have collected an SPFL awards double.

The pair have, this afternoon, been named as the Championship manager and player of the month respectively for October following Athletic's strong start to the season.

After guiding his team to three wins from three in the Betfred Cup group stage, Crawford led his men to league victories over Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Alloa Athletic and Queen of the South.

That run of form, which took them top of the table, also ensured the Pars made their best start to a season.

Murray, 26, was appointed as the club's new skipper in the summer and has had an outstanding start to the campaign.

Having missed a large chunk of last season's curtailed campaign through injury, making just 11 appearances, he has been an ever present so far.

As well as recording four clean sheets in seven games - the latest being Saturday's stalemate at Ayr United - Murray has scored five goals, four of them coming in the space of four matches.
