NINE points from Dunfermline’s remaining three games are a must if they are to achieve a place in the play-offs.

That’s the view of hitman Kevin O’Hara, who has admitted that there is a frustration among the squad that they haven’t picked up more points from their last two outings to put themselves in pole position for a top-four finish.

The former Alloa Athletic player, who has nine goals to his name since moving to East End last summer, couldn’t mark his 29th appearance by moving into double digits during Tuesday’s stalemate against Dundee.

Although he had an early effort saved after being played in by Dom Thomas, it was a tough night for the 22-year-old and his team-mates, who couldn’t fashion as many opportunities as they would have wanted against their third-top opponents.

With their games in hand now gone, the Pars are one place and one point behind fourth-placed Inverness – who host Dundee on Tuesday – with three games to go.

Queen of the South come calling this Saturday, as do Arbroath a week later, before the season finishes at Alloa, the only away league ground where Dunfermline have tasted victory.

O’Hara helped himself to a second-half hat-trick that afternoon and, speaking to Press Sport after Tuesday’s match, he said: “As a squad, we’re disappointed. I suppose a point is better than zero points but we wanted all three.

“We’ve got three massive games coming up and we just need to go and pick up the nine points, and that’s all we can do – worry about ourselves and hopefully other results go our way.

“We’ve had quite a good solid base defensively as a unit and I think we just need to get a balance between attacking and defending, and hopefully we can get that balance in the next couple of games.”

O’Hara made a number of good runs against Dundee, looking to be played in behind Dundee’s defence, but too often the final pass wasn’t quite on the money.

“Sometimes that happens,” he continued.

“That’s obviously my game, to run in behind, and I’ll always make those runs. Sometimes it’s frustrating it doesn’t come but I’m always going to make those runs and hopefully, that one time, we get in.

“It’s a bonus playing the home games. They’re massive games and we’re going to take that as an advantage and take the game right towards the other teams.

“Saturday against Queen of the South is a must-win and that’s it.”
