ATHLETIC have announced a further departure to their coaching staff in the shape of Jason Dair.

Last night, the club released a short statement that said, "with regret", the 46-year-old has left his position.

A former Pars player, Dair joined former team-mate Stevie Crawford's backroom team in the summer of 2019 as first team coach, but has now moved on from East End.

Chairman Ross McArthur said: "It is with regret that I announce that Jason Dair has left our club today.

"Again, I would like to thank Jason for his dedication and hard work during his spell at DAFC. Everyone at DAFC wishes Jason and his family every success in the future."

Born in Dunfermline, Dair began his playing career with Raith Rovers, with whom he won the 1994 Coca Cola Cup alongside Crawford.

He holds the distinction of scoring the Kirkcaldy club's first-ever European goal - against Gi Gota in the 1995 UEFA Cup - during a run that saw them famously bow out to German giants, Bayern Munich.

After a spell with Millwall, and a second at Raith, Dair signed for Dunfermline in 1999 and spent four years at East End, making 145 appearances, before leaving for Motherwell.

He also turned out for Livingston, Raith for a third time and East Fife towards the end of his playing career.

Dair worked as Crawford's assistant at New Bayview before having a spell in charge at Oakley United, as well as on the coaching staff at Cowdenbeath.

Prior to his appointment at East End, he had been first team manager with Dundonald Bluebell.
