A STAGGERING 67 new personal bests were recorded by Dunfermline Track and Field athletes when the club hosted its second open graded event of the season.

The event, held on June 12, attracted more than 200 competitors – including 39 from the hosts – from across Scotland to compete in five events.

Dunfermline Track and Field's athletes were in excellent form throughout and, in the under-13 age group, Caleb Munro was the pick of those racing in the 200 metres, posting a fine time of 30.7 seconds.

He went on to impress in the high jump, with his clearance of 1.34m a new PB, an achievement also enjoyed by Jaden McKay in the 800m, with a run of three minutes and 10 seconds.

Hurdlers Charlie Hunter (16.0) and Bradley Moffat (16.3) were also on form, and they would go on to impress in the discus, with excellent throws of 9.22m and 10.1m respectively.

Rachel Barnett, with the pick being a time of 13.9 in the 70m hurdles, gained four PBs as Lochlan Walker and Murron Kane collected three each, whilst a host of others netted two. Other notable performances came from Lottie Thomas in the 200m (32.6) and Caitlin Chambers in the 800m (3:10).

In the under-15 category, Callum Newton took three seconds off his 200m PB with a time of 26.2, which Sophie Thomas matched in the girls' event, with a run of 28.4, as Amy Jenkinson and Sarah Kane ended within a second of her time.

Callum then added 20 centimetres onto his previous high jump PB, with an effort of 1.65m, while Oliver Morrison continued his rich vein of form with a time of 5:16 in the 1500m, a race in which Mark Harley and David Cuthbert produced excellent runs in to finish within two seconds of their clubmate.

There was a throw of 18.32m in the discus for Brook Ferguson, an event in which Sarah Kane also impressed with 14.19m, while Ellie Candlish recorded a high jump PB of 1.55m.

In the hurdles, Shayna Asamoah and Kirstin Penman ran good times of 13.3 and 13.7 respectively.

Adam Akouko was the stand-out male compettitor in the under-17 age group, earning new bests in the 200m (26.0) and discus (29.76m).

Darcie Black enjoyed excellent hudles and 200m performances, as did Hayley Penman in the latter event, posting a season's best, while Darcie, in a joint league match in Grangemouth, broke the club under-17 girls' 80m hurdles record with a time of 12.20.
