East of Scotland League, Premier Division:

Dundonald Bluebell 2 Crossgates Primrose 1

PRIMROSE fell to a second successive defeat – the first time this season that's happened – at Dundonald Bluebell, who also knocked them out of the SFA South Region Challenge Cup in October.

Former Dunfermline and Kelty Hearts midfielder Stephen Husband gave the hosts a first-half lead at Moorside Park before turning creator shortly after the interval for Lewis McKenzie to double their advantage.

A Scott Lawrie penalty with five minutes to go was too little, too late for the visitors.

Boss Alan Campbell said: "Over the 90 minutes, they'll feel that they probably just shaded it. We lost a soft goal at a set-piece but we had a brilliant chance to score one-on-one midway through the first half, and could've possibly had a penalty as well.

"We made a shocking start to the second half, losing a goal out of nothing. It killed us; we had a gameplan to go at them. We were playing down the slope there and I thought we could put them under pressure.

"In the last half an hour, we were really good. We took the game to them, created chances, and eventually got the goal.

"You can't play for half an hour and expect to get a result at our level but the players showed resilience and character to keep going right to the end."

East of Scotland League, Premier Division:

Sauchie Juniors 1 Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts 1

SWIFTS paid the penalty for missed chances as Sauchie fought back to claim a point at Beechwood Park.

Liam Kelly gave the visitrs the lead in the second half but, with 20 minutes left, a ball over the top of the Inverkeithing defence ended with Michael Paterson conceding a spot-kick, which also resulted in him being sent off, and the hosts pulling level.

Brough said: "Overall, we were the better team. We just never scored that second goal.

"The last 15-20 minutes were a wee bit more difficult with 10 men but we still did well. The other pleasing thing was that we had a couple who missed out with injury, and the guys that came in did really well. I think I've got a good squad there."

East of Scotland League, First Division, Conference A:

Arniston Rangers 1 Rosyth 1

THE visitors, who had seven players missing and called up two members of their under-17 squad to the squad, took a first-half lead when Callum Strang's ball across the face of goal was turned into his own net by a home defender.

Rosyth, who on Tuesday were set to complete the signing of St Andrews United's top scorer, Evan Stanfield, then saw Regan Lumsden clip the outside of the post with a penalty, and were led superbly in defence by Garry Leighton and Dan Hall.

However, a harsh free kick given against Hall on the edge of the box with 10 minutes to go was capitalised on by Ryan Moore, whose deflected strike earned Arniston a point.

"I'm disappointed but, on the flip side, if you'd offered me a draw on Saturday morning, I'd have taken it," boss Russell Craig said. "Over the 90 minutes, we had more than enough chances. There are plenty of positives; I'd be more worried if the strikers weren't creating chances, but we are continuing to create chances.

"At the start of the day, we would've taken a point, but after that performance, we should've taken three."

East of Scotland League, First Division, Conference B:

Oakley United 1 Luncarty 1

OAKLEY UNITED'S first match in a month saw them held to a draw by fellow promotion-chasers Luncarty.

Jack Cowan, one of eight players to have agreed new deals with the club this month, put Oakley ahead in 17 minutes, only for Keith Dewar to equalise for the visitors with a strike from range.

The result leaves Oakley third in the table, two points behind leaders Glenrothes, having played a game more, and level with second-top Preston Athletic, who have played four games fewer.

Boss Stewart Kenny said: "It wasn't a great spectacle; you had two teams cancelling each other out through hard work. It was like a game of chess.

"Everyone I spoke to thought we should've had a penalty with a shot that was saved on the line but the referee is on his own. You have to hope that these things even themselves out. A draw was probably a fair result."
