East of Scotland League, Premier Division:

Crossgates Primrose 3 Musselburgh Athletic 2

MARK McKENZIE was Crossgates Primrose's hero on Saturday as his late goal clinched a thrilling victory.

The Humbug Park forward netted from close range as the hosts fought back from 2-1 down to claim a first win in 2022.

Alan Campbell handed debuts to new signings Calum Smith and Ross Pollock, signed on loan from Berwick Rangers and Cowdenbeath respectively, and took the lead just after the half-hour mark through a Brian Ritchie penalty.

However, six minutes after the break, Josh Jeffries' fine finish from just inside the penalty area pulled Musselburgh level, before Darren Downie slotted home a second beyond Sean Robertson from around eight yards.

Crossgates refused to give in, though, and McKenzie pulled them level with 19 minutes to go before netting the winner, after which the visitors were reduced to 10 men.

"I'm happy to have come out on top," Campbell said.

"We've not been playing that badly so it was good to get a couple of breaks and win the game.

"It could have gone either way in the final 20 minutes. To get a scrappy winner, in the last minute, was great. I thought over the 90 minutes we probably just shaded it.

"We've been averaging over tow-and-a-half goals a game, so our attack was back like ourselves. We created more chances and had more good moments in their box. It's important that we build on that."

East of Scotland League, Premier Division:

Dundonald Bluebell 1 Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts 1

GRANT BROUGH said that his side's performance in drawing at Dundonald Bluebell was "very pleasing".

The visitors looked to be heading for a fine victory at Moorside Park – and their first in four outings – when veteran Pat Scullion put them ahead after 30 minutes.

However, with around 15 minutes to go, Jack Smith equalised for Dundonald, who twice saw Jim Mackie hit the woodwork in the second half.

The point leaves Inverkeithing ninth in the 18-team division, with two points from their last two games, and Brough said: "We've had two difficult away games and, OK, it's only two points, but our overall performance has been good.

"It wasn't a pretty game of football. We had a few boys missing again but the boys who came in did really well. The fact that we were 1-0 up, and conceded with 15 minutes to go, means you're a wee bit deflated and it feels like two points dropped.

"But, when you analyse the game, a draw was probably fair. It's pleasing to go to places like Dundonald and compete."

East of Scotland League, First Division, Conference A:

Ormiston 1 Rosyth 3

ROSYTH are up to fifth in the table after they saw off the challenge of second-bottom Ormiston.

The visitors, seeking a third win in four games, took the lead in the 28th minute through Ryan McDonald's header, an advantage that they doubled thanks to a superb solo goal from Callum Strang.

Although Chris Hogg brought the hosts, who finished the game with nine men, back into it two minutes before the break, Liam Queen's goal from the restart restored Rec's two-goal lead.

Despite making some changes, which included handing new signing from St Andrews United, Evan Stanfield, a debut, it was an advantage they maintained after the break to earn a sixth win on the road this season.

Co-manager Russell Craig said: "They're struggling at the bottom of the league and it's one of those ones where, if you don't win, questions are asked.

"It was a dogged performance. The back four played really well and we didn't look like conceding until the penalty.

"We're fifth in the league and still winning, so I can't complain."
