East of Scotland 1st Division Conference B:

Oakley United 3 Glenrothes 1

OAKLEY extended their unbeaten run to 10 games after a hat-trick for captain Stuart Love in this top-of-the-table clash at Blairwood Park.

Love's goals secured the win for Oakley against their second-placed visitors, a result that keeps Oakley top of the league.

Glenrothes and third-placed Preston (five games in hand and only six points behind Oakley) have games in hand which could see them overtake the West Fifers but Stewart Kenny's men have put the pressure firmly on their rivals.

Kenny said: “Preston are in a great position and can only throw it away in my opinion. We can only keep winning our games and try and finish in as high a position as possible.”

On his captain he said: “He really epitomises what we’re about at Oakley. We’re a better football side than we get given credit for but, coupled up with that, we’ve got a fantastic workrate and the players really graft and put in an effort and Loveys the driving force behind that.”

East of Scotland 1st Division Conference A:

Rosyth Recreation 2 Craigroyston 3

AFTER a disappointing 90 minutes for Russell Craig's side, Rosyth find themselves in fifth place as they approach the latter stages of the season.

He told Press Sport: “It really wasn’t a great day at the office to be honest with you. We were a bit lacklustre and there were some dodgy refereeing decisions but that’s by the by.

"We just didn’t have a cutting edge. We’ve got a squad that’s good enough to beat any team in this league in my opinion but they can’t just turn up and expect three points, so there’ll be a lot of work at the training ground this week.”

Rec travel to Haddington Athletic this weekend.

East of Scotland Premier Division:

Linlithgow Rose 5 Crossgates Primrose 2

CROSSGATES were well beaten in the end by the league leaders although the scoreline may have been slightly harsh on Primrose, as they had a man sent off in the 85th minute which allowed Linlithgow to score another two in the remaining time left.

“I don’t think it was a true reflection of the game really," manager Alan Campbell said.

“If you ask me if we deserved anything from the game, then maybe no, they were probably the better side. I thought in the second half we did really well and getting a goal with 10 minutes to go, I was really hoping we could have a go for it. The sending-off just killed the game a wee bit to be honest.”

The result leaves Crossgates in seventh place before a trip to play Tynecastle this weekend.

Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts were set to play Camelon Juniors in a league match but the game was postponed. The Swifts now take a shot at leaders Linlithgow in what should be a tough fixture.
