DUNFERMLINE Athletic Ladies head coach Angie Comrie hailed goalkeeper Frankee Paterson after she helped her side to victory at the weekend.

The Pars number one was named player of the match after producing some fine stops as they recorded a second successive Biffa SWFL (Scottish Women's Football League) East victory.

Edinburgh South CFC Girls and Ladies were defeated by a solitary goal, an own goal early in the first half, as well as some excellent goalkeeping by Paterson.

"I will take the win," Comrie said.

"The first half we played some really good football, passing the ball around well. Edinburgh South were a thorn in our side, though, and didn't let us play in the second half, unlike the first half.

"We had a few chances to increase our lead, but we didn't take them. Edinburgh South also had chances, but our goalkeeper had a few match-winning saves to preserve our lead, earning her player of the match."

After 10 matches played, Dunfermline are sixth in the table with 19 points, seven behind current leaders Livingston Reserves.

This afternoon, they take on fellow West Fifers, Aberdour SDC Ladies, at Pitreavie in a 1.30pm kick off, with 'Dour still seeking their first point of the season.

After their clash at Edinburgh South the previous weekend was postponed, Ross Wortley's team, who are in their maiden league season, after the club was established last August, returned to action against Edinburgh University Thistle.

However, the capital side proved too strong at Hawkcraig Park, as 'Dour stay bottom of the table.
