ROSYTH'S management team have gone after a bad week in which the team suffered two heavy defeats and shipped 10 goals without reply.

Greig Denham and assistant boss Graeme Meldrum handed in their resignations the day after a 6-0 hammering at Heriot-Watt University in a First Division clash on Tuesday night.

That followed a 4-0 defeat at home on Saturday at the hands of St Andrews United, which sent the injury-hit team tumbling out of the Challenge Cup.

A club statement said: "Rosyth FC can confirm they have accepted the resignations of manager Greig Denham and assistant manager Graeme Meldrum with immediate effect.

"The club would like to thank both for all their efforts over last season and the beginning of this season.

"The club are now actively seeking applicants who have the experience and credentials to take the East of Scotland team on a permanent basis."

Rosyth are second bottom of the league and face the team below them, Vale of Leithen, this weekend with first team coach Graeme Nutt and club captain Garry Leighton agreeing to take the team "on an interim basis".

Denham, a former Motherwell defender who also played for Falkirk, St Mirren and Stenhousemuir, and won the Super League with Linlithgow Rose, took over as manager in September 2022 with Steve Kerrigan as his assistant.

They replaced Russell Craig and Dean Ogg who took on the roles of chairman and vice chairman respectively.

After the 4-0 loss on Saturday, Denham told Press Sport: "We had six boys out injured, which obviously doesn't help, and the majority would probably have started so it's not as if they were fringe players.

"That's out of a squad of 20, so we had to bring in a couple of under-20s boys to bolster it, and we've been missing our top scorer, Tam Hampson, for a while now.

"That's not an excuse, it's a fact, and we were up against tough opposition that we knew could cause us problems."
