A WEST FIFE race ace has accelerated to a clutch of trophies after enjoying a fruitful season on the track.

Kerr Paterson, from Saline, picked up several gongs at the Ministox Disco presentation night, held at Hill of Beath Community Centre, after a campaign that he will look back on fondly, writes Jim Turner.

The youngster started his season in the novice grade at the Cowdenbeath Racewall but, after some exciting outings, began to move up the grades.

In June, Paterson won the ORCi Championship, which was run at the Racewall, after he capitalised on the leading duo drifting wide on the last bend before slipping through to win.

From that point until the end of the season he was a strong contender with many top three finishes to his credit.

Paterson claimed victory in the 'Young Guns white / yellow series', and won the Novice of the Year Award and the GMP Racewall National Points Series, whilst also sharing the Driver of the Year Award with Jake Wilson, the first time ever that there have been joint winners.

As well as Paterson, another Saline driver, Shay Page, also left with a couple of awards from the presentation event, which were the Newcomer of the Year and Sharpies Trophy, towards the close of the season.
