Kelty Hearts 1 Annan Athletic 1

MICHAEL TIDSER admitted that he felt "really frustrated" after Kelty Hearts were held to a draw by Annan Athletic but said he couldn't be too critical of his players.

Alfie Bavidge's first half spot-kick, after player / boss Tidser was felled by Rico Quitongo, gave the New Central Park a thoroughly deserved lead against their second bottom opponents, and on course for a first win in five matches.

However, their inability to find a second goal came back to haunt them when Tommy Goss performed the role of super sub for the Galabankies, netting with their only shot on target with 17 minutes to go.

"I think anybody that witnessed it and watched it, for probably about 60 minutes, we were really, really good, first half especially," Tidser told Press Sport.

"Rotations, the way we want to play, we looked like a threat, get the penalty, and had a couple more chances to score the second.

"I think that's the problem; we're not really putting teams to bed, and football's football. I've been involved in it long enough - if you don't take your chances, you're always susceptible to them getting a wee sniff.

"I think when they bring Tommy Goss on it changes the game because he's a big boy and they go route one, even more than they probably did in the first half, and the goal's so avoidable.

"Then the game swings. It just swings. It goes a bit like a basketball match for the last 15-20 minutes, and it probably knocked the stuffing out of us a wee bit because we've been here before. I've told them that in there - we need to show a bit more character, a bit more bravery. Sometimes you show more bravery when something happens.

Dunfermline Press:

"I can't be too critical because the lads have been really, really good, and play the game I want to to play the game, but it is what it is."

Only a stunning save from Annan keeper, Greg Fleming, prevented Bavidge adding a second goal for the hosts, who handed Hibernian loanee, Reuben McAllister, his first start, moments after netting his fourth goal for the club, whilst he headed a great chance to win it late on wide from Ross Cunningham's cross.

That came after Goss latched on Aidan Smith's flick-on from a ball upfield, before taking it on to his left foot inside the area, and burying a shot beyond Kyle Gourlay.

Tidser, whose side stay sixth in the table, two points behind fourth-top Montrose, added: "I'm frustrated. I'm really, really frustrated, and I let the lads know I'm frustrated, but I'll always try and be positive as well because, for large spells, we were very, very good, and maybe just lacked a wee bit of cutting edge in the final third.

"We take the point and all you can do is move on to next week."
