DUNFERMLINE Athletic Ladies have advanced to the quarter-finals of the Scottish Women's Football League (SWFL) Plate competition with a convincing win over East Fife Development.

Charles Dignan recorded his second successive win - and second in three competitive matches since taking on the role of head coach - on Sunday as his team came out on top in the Fife derby.

They hit their fellow SWFL East League side for six without reply at Pitreavie, with Tyler Sibbons and Alex Davie each netting a brace, with Ellis Yeaman and Katey Turner also finding the net.

The Pars defeated Westdyke Thistle the previous week in the last 16 of the competition, which they dropped into after failing to reach the knockout rounds of the SWFL Cup tournament, following the conclusion of its group stages.

Dunfermline Press:

They are yet to learn their quarter-final opponents and, this Sunday, welcome Cumbernauld Colts to Pitreavie for a friendly, which kicks off at 1.30pm.

Speaking to Press Sport ahead of the East Fife tie, Dignan told of his delight at the response he has had from his squad, having arrived at the club in December after leaving Alloa Athletic.

"I think the players have received myself and my management team really well. I think they're keen, they're excited, they've been listening to everything we say, and we've been listening to them as well," he said.

"It's one thing coming in to a new club, and inheriting a new group of players, but it's another thing coming in mid-season.

"You always wonder how things will go at the start of the season, but it's definitely coming in during a season. I think the players and my coaching staff have adapted very well, and it's been seamless, to be honest."
