STAND in Pars skipper Chris Hamilton said his team must “stick together” after sinking to a five goal drubbing at home.

Speaking after the game, he admitted that the performance was unacceptable.

“It was not good enough, miles off it, a really tough one to take,” he said.

“We knew what to expect, we had worked hard on them all week and what they are good at - defending our box, defending long throws, defending crosses into the box, then come today we didn’t do any of them.

“We were miles off it on the ball and just struggled to get anything going at all.

“Credit to Morton, they put us under pressure and did what they are good at. They put balls into the box, they fought for first balls, second balls and got their rewards in the end.

“We will stick together but we need to start understanding performances like that aren’t acceptable.

“Defending our box like that isn’t good enough and there are obviously a lot of frustrated boys in there.

“The manager will probably try and take the blame off us but I think as a group we need to be better than that.

“We know that it is us on the pitch at the end of the day.

“We knew what they are good at, we knew how to stop it and we knew what they wanted to do. Then we go on the pitch and play into their hands.

“It is frustrating for him at the side to watch, frustrating for the fans.

“It is a young group, I understand that but as experienced ones we need to be better on the pitch at managing the game. Today I think that let us down.”

Hamilton said they will now focus on improvement for their vital home tie with Queen's Park on Saturday.

“We need to stick together, we still have a good enough group here to go and perform better than we did today,” he added.

“That needs to be our focus next week - we get back together, stick together like we will and go and turn this around.”
