Kelty Hearts v Queen of the South: League One tie ends in draw

KELTY HEARTS boss Michael Tidser felt that a share of the spoils was fair as his side's clash with Queen of the South ended in stalemate.

The New Central Park outfit had won their previous two meetings with the Doonhamers this season, both by a 3-1 scoreline, but neither team could find a breakthrough at New Central Park on Saturday.

Gavin Reilly struck the inside of the post for the visitors in the opening period, whilst Lee Connelly and Cammy Logan forced Kyle Gourlay into smart stops, but Brad McKay, Craig Johnston and recent loan signing, Joe McGlynn, had opportunities for Kelty.

Joel Mumbongo also struck the woodwork with a fine effort from the edge of the box Queens in the second half, but it finished honours even, after which Tidser said: "I thought a draw was probably a fair result.

"I think both teams were set out to stop each other. First half, I thought it was more of a battle, and they probably had the better chances. Second half, I thought we came out a wee bit better. We asked them to pass the ball, be a wee bit braver, and I thought we did do that.

"We've had a couple of wee half chances so I think, overall, a point's a fair result, and you take your point and move on."

"It was a bit of a scrappy game to be fair, but they're a good side as well," forward Johnston commented.

"They're full time so they're always going to be fit and strong.

"We didn't really play like we could but we dug in as well, we defended well, we got a clean sheet. You come away with a point and, come the end of the season, it might not be a bad point to take."
