IT'S match day for Athletic as they head to Glasgow to take on Partick Thistle in a Friday night televised clash.

James McPake's side will meet the Jags for the third time this campaign, and the game is being televised live on the BBC Scotland channel.

Press Sport will also bring live updates from Firhill and, ahead of kick off, here's a look ahead to the evening's action.

Form guide

Dunfermline go into this one without a win in nine matches.

The Pars haven't tasted victory since December 9, when they won 2-1 at Airdrieonians, and have picked up just four points from 27 available since.

That winless run began with a 2-1 home defeat by Partick Thistle, but Athletic have drawn three of their last four outings on the road.

Dunfermline Press:

They sit ninth in the table, six points clear of bottom side Arbroath, and behind Inverness Caledonian Thistle - who they play on Tuesday - on goal difference. Avoiding defeat would, at least temporarily, take them out of the relegation play-off spot.

Thistle, meanwhile, sit third in the Championship, nine points behind second-placed Raith Rovers, and the same number above fifth-placed Ayr United.

Kris Doolan's men, who boast the league's top goalscorer in Brian Graham, who has netted 12, have won six and drawn three of their 11 home games so far, whilst the Pars have won three and drawn five of their 11 on the road.

Partick earned a point at Inverness on Saturday, and have lost just one in their last eight league fixtures, winning four of them.

During that spell, they lost at leaders Dundee United, as well as to Livingston in the Scottish Cup fifth round after extra time.

Recent meetings

This is the third clash of the teams so far this season and Thistle have the bragging rights so far.

In September, they eased Dunfermline aside with a 3-0 victory, in which two ex-Pars, Scott Robinson and Kerr McInroy, scored either side of a Graham effort.

They followed that up with a 2-1 win at East End in December.

Matty Todd, set to return for the Pars tonight, scored but it wasn't enough to pull back efforts from Harry Milne and Graham.

According to Soccerbase, this is the 117th meeting of the teams overall.

Dunfermline have won 52 matches, with Partick winning 34, whilst 30 have been drawn.

In the league, Athletic again have the edge, with 38 victories to Thistle's 31, whilst 26 have been drawn.

The Jags are unbeaten in their last four meeting with the Pars, winning all four, although one of those was a penalty shoot-out success in last season's Scottish Cup.

Dunfermline have just two wins from their last nine meetings with Partick, and the first of those was also their last success at Firhill - a 4-2 League Cup group stage win in 2021.

Their last league win at the home of the Jags was a 3-0 success in September 2019.

Team news

Midfielder, Matty Todd, and forward, Alex Jakubiak, are set to return to Dunfermline's squad for tonight's game after injuries.

There could also be a debut for new signing, Miles Welch-Hayes, after he joined on loan from Livingston yesterday.

From the dugout

James McPake: "They've got six points out of six against us. They had a right good run last year getting to the play-off final, and they're looking to carry that on, so it's going to be a tough game."

Tonight's game kicks off at 7.45pm. It is live on the BBC Scotland channel, whilst Press Sport will also have live updates as they happen on our website.
