Partick Thistle 1, Dunfermline Athletic 3.

Friday night football proved just the tonic for Dunfermline as they served up three goals against Partick Thistle.

Coming from a goal behind, the Pars notched a goal in the first half and two in the second to secure their first league win this year.

It wasn’t a classic but Athletic dug deep and held out to claim all three points.

Dunfermline came into the game after a spell in which they have been without a win since December 9 when they secured an away win at Airdrie.

Having only picked up four points since then, James McPake’s side were hoping to take something from the game to propel them up away from second bottom place in the league table.

They started the game a little shakily but dug in and endured Partick pressure.

They had their first foray on goal after winning a free kick in the seventh minute after Chris Kane was brought down.

Lewis McCann stepped up and curled in a shot which had to be palmed away for a corner.

Kane was involved ten minutes later when another free kick came to Chris Hamilton in the box. His shot was deflected over and the resulting corner was headed downwards towards the St Johnstone loanee but the ball was cleared off the line.

Soon later, it was Partick Thistle on the attack. David Graham fired in a shot from just inside the box but Deniz Mehmet reacted quickly and pulled off a fine save.

The Pars keeper was beaten just before the half hour mark when Brian Graham gave his side the lead. A corner saw Luke McBeth head the ball across the box and the Thistle captain rose and nodded down to make it one nil.

On 37 minutes, Dunfermline were level. Josh Edwards picked up the ball and fired in a long range shot which Thistle keeper was only able to parry. Malachi Fagan-Walcott was on hand to pounce and net from the rebound.

There could have been another five minutes later when a misplaced kick out from the home keeper was intercepted. The ball came to Matty Todd just inside the box but his shot was blocked.

Ewan Otoo picked the ball up in the middle of the park just before half time and did well to find Brad Holmes but his shot went high and wide.

Just under 10 minutes into the second half, Dunfermline were in the lead.

Josh Edwards found Matty Todd with a long ball and, despite opposition calls for offside, he controlled the ball and coolly puts the ball past Ross Stewart.

Minutes later, it looked like Thistle were level again when it looked like David Graham had scored.

However, after lengthy discussion with his fourth official, referee David Munro deemed the effort to be offside much to the annoyance of the home side and fans.

On 64 minutes, it was three for the Pars. Paul Allan delivered a corner straight to the head of Xavier Benjamin who nodded into the net.

On 78 minutes sub Tomi Adeloye created some danger for the home team and the ball came to David Graham who shot just wide.

Alex Jackubiak was next to create a chance when he picked up a wayward pass and fired in towards goal but his effort was tipped wide by the Partick keeper
