ATHLETIC defender Josh Edwards has targeted "revitalising" their home form as they prepare to return to KDM Group East End Park this weekend.

The 23-year-old played a key role as the Pars followed up a fine victory at Partick Thistle last Friday night with a point away to Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Tuesday evening.

Success at Firhill ended a run of nine games without a win but, going into this weekend's match against Ayr United on their own turf, Dunfermline haven't picked up maximum points at East End in five outings.

Their last win in front of their own fans came against Arbroath in late November, and Edwards wants to change that against the Honest Men, who sit three points and three places ahead of eighth-placed Pars.

Dunfermline Press:

Now under the charge of Scott Brown, assisted by former Dunfermline player and coach, Steven Whittaker, Ayr sit fifth in the table, have won two of their last three games, and were victorious on their last trip to West Fife in October.

Speaking after the draw in the Highlands, Edwards said: "It is a big game for us, they are doing well at the minute and we know Whitts from his time here. We know what to expect and we will be working hard on revitalising our home form because it’s not been great.

"It is a good point (earned at Inverness). It is always a tough place coming up here, so I suppose we will take the point. It is one of those games, especially in the second half, where we felt we had more of the ball, maybe a bit more of the play, so in hindsight we are a wee bit disappointed not to take all three points. I think we got into good areas, but then they threatened on the counter-attack as well, so I think a point is a pretty fair result in the end.

"There were a few scrambles and they tipped one over the bar. Alex Jakubiak’s chance in the first half brought a great clearance from Danny Devine to be fair to him. It kind of evened itself out with the penalty save but, other than that, I can’t remember many shots on target or proper clear cut chances.

"We will go away and reflect on that and hopefully get more bodies into attacking areas to put those chances away and use those plays that we build up."
