DUNFERMLINE and Carnegie Hockey Club's ladies seconds were celebrating at the weekend after picking up two victories in the space of a week.

The team, sponsored by Production Bureau, took on Peebles in the women's East District Division Two, having enjoyed a midweek win over George Heriots Former Players ladies' seconds on Wednesday evening.

Two goals from Jodie Hood, in the first and last quarter, gave them a 2-0 success, and added another against their visitors from the Borders.

Carnegie came close early on through Laura Donaldson, and also struck the post, before breaking through in the second quarter when Hood touched home Donaldson's cross.

Despite losing Gill Oswald to a green card issued by the umpire in the final quarter, Carnegie withheld Peebles pressure to pick up the win, with Sheila Duncan taking the MVP award for her support of her team-mates.

In Division Four, the ladies thirds took on Watsonians Colts seconds at Mary Erskine School and, despite mounting some strong attacks, and competing well in midfield, lost two goals in the opening quarter.

Two more were added by the hosts before half-time and, although they pulled a goal back at the end of the third through Heidi Cameron, Watsonians added a fifth to secure a 5-1 win.

Carnegie ladies' firsts, meanwhile, were in Scottish Hockey Championship One action at George Heriots Former Pupils ladies firsts, losing 3-0, leaving them sixth in the standings with five points accumulated from their matches played so far.

There were also matches involving some of the club's men's teams on Saturday, including the firsts, who picked up a point after drawing with Gordonians men's firsts.

The West Fifers and their opponents shared the spoils in a match that ended 2-2 in Subdivision One of the Scottish Hockey Men's National League.

Carnegie, who top overall standings, travel to Falkirk and Linlithgow Hockey Club men's firsts this Saturday in their next Subdivision One fixture, which consists of six teams, with the other four in the National League competing in Subdivision Two.

In Scottish Hockey Men's Regional League Two, Carnegie men's seconds travelled to second-top Uddingston men's seconds, and were beaten 6-1, leaving them fifth in the nine-team division.

The men's thirds were 2-0 victors over Fjordhus Reivers in their latest East District Division Tour fixture, whilst the men's development side drew 4-4 with Edinburgh Hockey Club development in East District Division Four.
