HEROES of the Halbeath Road have been immortalised at the holy grail for Pars fans after a mural of club legends was unveiled.

Ahead of last Friday evening's match at home to Dundee United, a new display of Athletic icons was revealed to supporters, taking pride of place beside the players' entrance at the corner of the Norrie McCathie Stand.

Put together by the Dunfermline Athletic Centenary Club, supporters were given the opportunity to vote for their favourites to adorn the artwork, designed by Kathryn Main, from Kreative, and with the support of club photographer, Craig Brown.

The likes of 1968 Scottish Cup winning skipper, Roy Barry, the club's record appearance holder, Norrie McCathie, and long-serving former captain, Scott Thomson, are amongst those featured, alongside stars such as Istvan Kozma, Ian Westwater, John Watson, Charlie Dickson, Hamish French, Alex Edwards, Andy Tod, Andrius Skerla, Barry Nicholson and Joe Cardle.

Sir Alex Ferguson is also included, as are Jim Leishman and Bert Paton, both of whom player for and managed the club, as well as Jock Stein, who led the Pars to Scottish Cup glory in 1961.

During the United match, which the Pars won 3-1, a number of those featured were also introduced to the crowd during the half-time interval.

The Dunfermline Athletic Centenary Club offers fans the chance to win regular prizes, for a fee of £20 month, with monies raised supporting the club's youth academy.
