RISING star Ronan Pearson has revealed the Macklin Motors-backed car that he will use for his second season racing in the British Touring Car Championship.

The Kelty youngster will race for EXCELR8-run Team Bristol Street Motors as part of a four-car line-up, and he'll continue at the wheel of the Hyundai i30 Fastback N he used in his debut campaign in 2023.

Ronan took the covers off his 2024 livery during a special launch event near Stratford-upon-Avon and aims to build on last year, his best result was fourth on his home track at Knockhill while he also finished in the top 10 on four occasions.

He said: “The car looks great in the flesh and hopefully it’ll be at the front of the grid when racing kicks off.

“Last year, we showed what we could do, particularly towards the end of the season, and I want to build on that and regularly push for the top 10 in both qualifying and the races.

Heading into 2024, he not only has his sights set on a maiden podium finish but will also seek to lift the Jack Sears Trophy, the competition for those drivers who have yet to secure an overall top three finish.

Ronan reflected: “I really want to get onto the podium this season, and the main focus for me has to be on the Jack Sears Trophy.

"Of course it would be nice if I could get a race win but winning that trophy has to be the goal because it’s a reflection of results across a full season, whereas there is a lot that can influence a single race.”

The BTCC returns to Knockhill in August and the race ace said: “Of the Scottish drivers, there is only me and Aiden (Moffat) currently on the grid, and I’m going to be proud to fly the Saltire flag again this season.

“It brings no added pressure for me, but it does make Knockhill all the more special when it comes around because we have so much home support, which is something the other drivers don’t really get to the same level.

“I’m already looking forward to that event later in the year but there is plenty to do before then, and I can’t wait to get started.”
