PARS boss James McPake has said Alex Jakubiak "knows my thoughts on him" and believes he has "got a bit of everything" to his game.

And he has revealed that he will "see what happens" over whether the 27-year-old could extend his stay at KDM Group East End Park beyond the summer.

Former Dundee forward Jakubiak, for whom he was signed by McPake, joined Dunfermline in September on a deal until the end of the season.

He has played 23 times so far for Athletic, with his only goals coming in a 2-2 draw with Ayr United in December, when he netted a brace, but he was a star performer in the recent home win over Dundee United.

Jakubiak had a hand in all three goals in the 3-1 victory, and, afterwards, McPake said it was his "best performance in a Dunfermline shirt".

When asked whether there was a possibility of extending the player's stay at the club, the Pars boss commented: "He’s enjoying it. He’s that nice a person, he fits in.

"We’re trying to build that. We want good people, and he’s up there in terms of the players I’ve managed.

"He’s caused me a few problems at times - not in too bad a way - but, if he’s happy, then we’re happy with Alex when he’s fit and firing. We’ll see what happens, but it’s not something we’ve not really touched on.

"I’ve not spoken to Alex about it, but he knows my thoughts on him. It’s just, if he can get himself right, then where will his options be?

"Now, because he’s enjoying it, and if he can keep playing the way he’s playing, then who knows?

"But he wants to play football, he wants to enjoy his football, so we’ll wait and see."

McPake added: "He’s got a bit of everything, hence the reason I was desperate to sign him at Dundee.

"When we got him there was a couple of Premiership teams interested. He had the loan spell at St Mirren and Motherwell were interested as well. Injuries have curtailed him; it was stop-start at Dundee.

"In the best possible way, he’s a frustrating player, for me, because I know the levels he can get to, and he showed that last Friday night. But he’s better than that - there’s still more to come.

"You don’t make your debut for Watford in the Championship in England at 17 if you’ve not got something, or be at that club for a while and come right through when they were in the Premier League."
