THERE'S "nothing stopping" Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts from lifting their first trophy as a senior club on Sunday.

That's the view of captain, Callum Deas, who believes that they have shown their capabilities during their run to the East of Scotland Qualifying Cup final.

Fellow Premier Division side, Dunbar United, stand in their way of making history in the first final the Swifts have reached since forming a senior team six years ago.

Deas said: "It's not been an easy road. We've been down at Gala midweek, and Broxburn as well, who are league leaders, so it's not as if it's been a walk in the park with easy draws to get to the final.

"It's there. We've beaten teams who were probably favourites to win it, so there's nothing stopping us.

"You don't want to get too caught up in it. That's when mistakes come, or you get early bookings, or even a dreaded red in the final.

"It's important to just take it as it comes because it's just another game of football at the end of the day."

Deas has been with the club since 2019 and has gone on to break the 100 appearances barrier as a Swifts player.

Although he is one of the more experienced members of the squad, he admitted: "We're all quite nervous but it's the biggest game for the club, and ourselves, probably.

"You're not going to play in much bigger things, but we're good.

"They've beaten us the last two times recently, and we beat them at the start of the season, so I think that'll be in the back of our minds, that we're due them one.

"It's all to play for. Anything can happen in a game of football.

"It's probably the biggest game I'll have played in. The nerves are there, but nerves are a good thing, especially as the last couple of seasons, we've been in the bottom half, so it's good to have something to properly fight for.

"It's a massive achievement to get to the final, but it would be even better to win it."

He added: "I've been here since they've been in the Premier Division.

"It's been a battle but it's been good. We've not really been close to a final like this, so it's good to get to this stage now.

"It's been a long season as well. The league's not went our way too well, so this is a nice distraction, and it'd be a great achievement to go and lift it."
