RONAN PEARSON has set his sights on carrying "momentum" from his maiden Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) victory when he goes racing again this weekend.

The Kelty racer, 22, heads to Norfolk and the Snetterton circuit for rounds seven, eight and nine of the 2024 competition on the back of his superb success last time out at Brands Hatch Indy.

Pearson, who competes for the EXCELR8 Motorsport-run Team Bristol Street Motors outfit, drove his Hyundai i30 Fastback N car home across the winning line in round six, the third and last race of the weekend.

It was his first win in the BTCC since joining it for the 2023 series, and he goes into this weekend 12th in the overall drivers standings with 38 points.

Pearson said: "It’s been a long journey to get this point and I’ve never given up, and huge thanks has to go to the team for their efforts in giving me a fantastic car, and everyone who has supported me through to the years.

"We’ve shown good pace now at two very different circuits in very different conditions which is a big positive, and we have to try and carry this momentum into Snetterton next time out."

Team owner, Justina Williams, told the BTCC website: "We’re so proud to see Ronan get onto the top step for the first time as he has worked so hard to get to this stage and richly deserves his victory, and to score a 1-2 finish (team-mate Tom Chilton finished second) is brilliant for the team against such strong opposition."

Pearson is also second in the Jack Sears Trophy standings, which is open to drivers who, at the beginning of the season, haven't recorded a podium finish, whilst his team are third in the manufacturers / constructors standings.

After Snetterton, the BTCC moves on to Thruxton, over the weekend of June 8-9, and will arrive at Knockhill, for rounds 19, 20 and 21, on August 10-11 after visits to Oulton Park (June 22-23) and Croft (July 27-28).
