EUROS fever is gripping the nation and one of the country's biggest fan zones is set to help Scotland on their way to the World Cup - by going to the movies.

Dunfermline City Fan Zone will welcome up to 3,000 supporters to KDM Group East End Park for each of the national side's group stage matches at the tournament in Germany.

And  it's now been announced that it will host one of the largest free events of the summer.

They are going to utilise the two 28 square metre, festival-style LED screens that will be in place for fans to cheer on Steve Clarke's heroes to transform the ground, for one night only on Friday June 21, into an outdoor movie theatre.

And the main feature will be the 2024 film release 'The Beautiful Game'.

Starring Bill Nighy, it is inspired by the true story of the Homeless World Cup, to which Scotland's team will be travelling to Seoul, South Korea, in September to compete in.

In partnership with Street Soccer Scotland and the Homeless World Cup, the aim is to raise awareness of their initiatives in Fife, the opportunities open to become involved at varying levels, and, through a bucket collection at the stadium, raise money for the Scots squad's trip.

David Duke MBE, founder and CEO of Street Soccer Scotland, commented: "We are delighted to be involved with the Dunfermline City Fan Zone, which will provide a great community event space for the Euro 24 matches.

"The screening of 'The Beautiful Game' at the movie night will be a great showcase of the power of football through The Homeless World Cup, promoting Street Soccer Scotland’s year-round work in Fife and other parts of Scotland."

Prior to the screening of the film, a family friendly movie will be shown and attendees will be able to enjoy a wide array of activities and amenities, including popcorn, candy floss, sweets, drinks, food vendors, a fully licensed bar and a dedicated kids zone.

Alister Burn, Dunfermline Athletic's commercial manager, said: "With a capacity of 3,000 seats, we have the ambitious vision of creating a truly unique event for the area, one that has never been seen before.

"As a community focussed club, our primary focus is centred around inclusivity and through this event we aim to create a vibrant, secure and family-friendly environment that is open to everyone to attend."

There's backing from Babcock whose marine sector CEO, Paul Armstrong, said: "We are delighted to partner with the Dunfermline City Fan Zone and provide sponsorship for the upcoming movie night.

"We are a major local employer, and many of our Rosyth employees live in the local area, so it is great to work with the club to provide support for events like this and contribute to our local community.

"Collaboration is important to us and we also look forward to partnering with Dunfermline Athletic on further initiatives."

The Dunfermline City Fan Zone will run for 10 days, from June 14-23.

Starting on the opening night of Euro 2024, when Scotland play hosts Germany, it will offer fans the chance to also watch matches against Switzerland, on June 19, and Hungary, on June 23.

The action will be shown on two big screens facing the Norrie McCathie Stand, where spectators will be accommodated.

There will be staging in the middle to host live acts, interviews, DJs and other forms of entertainment, as well as a dedicated family section, fully licensed bar, food trucks and food stalls, and other activities and a children's fan zone in the concourse.

Other events, such as a best of Scotland food and drink festival, and other kids and community focussed initiatives, are also set to take place throughout the time the fan zone is operational.

Free travel, from across Scotland, to and from KDM Group East End Park is being provided by Stagecoach.

Scott Hall, head of commercial for the bus firm, added: "Stagecoach are proud to support the Dunfermline City Fan Zone events this summer, especially this event which will see attendees from across the local area enjoy the unique experience of watching a movie on the big screen.

"We're proud to serve the people of Dunfermline and East Scotland and look forward to seeing people make use of our bus and coach services to reach the events."

Tickets for the movie event are free and will be available from Monday.
