Kelty Hearts attacker Lewis Moore couldn’t hide his delight at bagging his first goal of the season in his side’s win against Annan Athletic.
The winger admits he had been struggling to find the net in previous games but is hoping his superb strike in the 26th minute of Saturday’s game will propel him to more goal success in coming weeks.
“The last few weeks it has been a struggle,” he said. “Performances have been there the last few weeks but we just couldn’t find the net.
“Everything worked out today. Scotty (Williamson) got his goal, I got my goal.”
Moore got the ball in the box, turned well before firing his effort past Annan keeper Jamie Smith to give Kelty their second goal of the game.
“I cannot even remember it - it has been that long since I last scored. You could see that in my celebration. It was just thank God it went in.
“It has been a while so it was good to score.
“It could have been four or five. We have worked on finishing in training this week and it has paid off.”
After the match, player-boss Michael Tidser revealed he had spoken to Moore ahead of the game.
Moore explained: “He had a wee phone call with me this morning. I love the gaffer, he knows me, he knows me not just as a player and a friend.
“He knows I am a confidence player and he was trying to get that in me and he obviously proved that today.”
Tidser was delighted to see Moore back on form.
“I don’t think he would mind me saying, he had been struggling as he hadn’t had performances to the level he can get to,” he said.
“I had a brief chat with him this morning on the phone away from football and just said look, I will back you to the hilt and back and you are playing today so I want you back to your best.
“I thought he was really good today as well. He managed to get his goal and you could see with his celebration how pleased he was. He took it well but I have seen Moorey do that now for 18 months so I am really pleased.”
