THE fact he's still Pars leading goalscorer this season - with two - tells you what the main problem is for Ewan Otoo's misfiring team.
He played a fine game, starting at left back before moving into attacking midfield to try and unlock Morton's defence, but despite a hatful of chances Dunfermline drew a blank.
Out of all the 42 teams across the Scottish Premiership, Championship, League One and League Two, they have scored the fewest goals with just five from nine matches.
They are second bottom of the table with league leaders, and bitter rivals, Falkirk up next and should be making the short trip west on the back of a morale-boosting win as they completely bossed Morton on Saturday.

Otoo admitted: "This one stings as we dominated the game.
"To a man it was a very good performance all over the pitch and on another day we take one or two of those chances and take all three points."
It's rare for a team to be on top for so long, the last 15 minutes of the first half and all of the second belonged to the Pars, but they couldn't make it count.
He said: "Everyone was very confident and the crowd was very good, they were helping us.
“We were all on the same page, looking to get the ball forward and keep them under pressure.
“Hopefully we can build on that, particularly at home and make this a hard place for teams coming here."
Before the break Kane Ritchie-Hosler and Chris Kane were denied by the goalkeeper while Matty Todd dragged a shot just past the post.

In a one-sided second half Joe Chalmers was out of luck with a swerving effort, Josh Cooper's drive was blocked and Kane's close-range header brought the very best out of Morton's Gary Woods.
Otoo also had a goal-bound blast deflect off two defenders, with Ritchie-Hosler unable to force the loose ball into the net.
The Pars man recalled: "That sums up our day. On another day that goes in.
“It was chance after chance and we just couldn’t find the back of the net.
“When that one didn’t go in you think it might not be our day in front of goal and it turned out to be that way."
There was controversy too, with Kirk Broadfoot escaping with a yellow card after a late lunge on Ritchie-Hosler while Pars boss James McPake was seething that they didn't even get a foul when Jack Baird crunched Todd on the halfway line.
Otoo shrugged: "Broadfoot’s one was dubious and on another day maybe the referee does give it as a red but we can’t get too bogged down by it as it’s not in our control.
“The performance was good enough to merit three points, hopefully we’ll keep that going, especially at home and apply pressure on teams coming here and making it uncomfortable for them."
Otoo helped keep quiet ex-Par and former Celtic team-mate Owen Moffat, and he smiled: "It was a good battle between us.
"I feel I know how to play against Moff as I’ve being doing it since I was eight-years-old, I played in the same team as him.
“I know him really well although he can say the same about me too."
The versatile Dunfermline man has played every minute of every league game this season and he admitted: “That’s a big thing for me, the manager has a lot of trust in me and I really appreciate that, so every time I go out on the pitch I look to repay that trust."
