Aberdour Shinty Club's senior teams opened their new league seasons at the weekend.
The 2025 Mowi South Division One and South Division Two campaigns got underway for the club on Saturday, with their first and second sides facing Inveraray and Tayforth respectively.
In the former, 'Dour made the trip to Argyll and Bute and returned home with a share of the spoils after a 2-2 draw.
With an already neat squad, combined with a couple of injuries and players with work commitments, the West Fifers went into the game with a bare squad of 12, whilst their opponents were able to call on a pool of 17.
Despite making a strong start, Aberdour fell behind in the 20th minute to a Ewan Donnan goal, but David MacKenzie levelled a minute into the second half.
There were chances at both ends, with excellent forward play creating more for the visitors, who were denied by some superb saves from the Inveraray goalkeeper, until MacKenzie scored his, and his team's second, in the 73rd minute.
However, with five minutes to go, David Robertson equalised for the hosts to ensure the points were shared.
In Division Two, Aberdour's seconds, who had five players making their first appearance for the club, started their match well at home to Tayforth, creating opportunities to score, but two goals in five minutes from Niall Arnott and Andrew Lumgair saw them establish a 2-0 half-time lead.
Both teams competed well after the break but, with five minutes left, Arnott grabbed his second to complete a 3-0 win for Tayforth.
This Saturday, Aberdour's firsts host Kilmory at Silver Sands, where throw-up is at 1.30pm, whilst the seconds travel to Uddingston for a 2.30pm start.
