Rosyth Sharks win at Arbroath in Caledonia Midlands Division Three

Rosyth Sharks bounced back from a heavy loss in their last match, after three weeks idle, to record an emphatic victory at blustery Arbroath.

Having lost 41-0 at home to Bannockburn at the beginning of the month, Mark Love's side returned to winning ways on the road.

Dan Crittenden, Jamie Hance and captain, Ryan Wallace, all scored first half tries, whilst Hance again, as well as Craig Paterson and Tommy Reilly, crossed in the second.

Wallace, who converted three of Sharks' six scores, commented: "It felt good to get back to winning ways.

"The game wasn't easy as Arbroath were very physical, but the boys matched the physicality that we needed to put on and get the win."

Rosyth were punished for some poor defending in the first half, and head coach Love noted a slow start, but watched his side build good attacking pressure upon which they capitalised.

"We started slow and were playing into a strong headwind which allowed Arbroath to get an early score," he said.

"But we responded well, quickly getting the game back level after sustained pressure close to the line.

"Into the second half, our structure was working well, and our scrum continued to be dominant, allowing us to play on the front foot.

"It was frustrating, perhaps, that we left two or three tries out there from simple handling mistakes or unforced errors close to the line. But overall, I'm happy to get the win." 

Rosyth sit second in the table, eight points behind Bannockburn, and a point clear of Dunfermline second XV, who are third.

This Saturday, they travel to St Andrews to face Madras in the Caledonia Midlands Bowl, with kick off at 1:30pm.
