The captain of Dunfermline Rugby Club has been appointed into a full-time role that they say is "a major step" for them.
Matthew Wilson, who is also the skipper of the senior men's first XV, will take up the position as development officer at McKane Park, in conjunction with Scottish Rugby.
Previously a part-time post at the club, Wilson, who in October claimed his 100th cap as a Dunfermline player, will look at player development, increasing participation across all youth age groups, and leading programmes with the aim of strengthening the sport in West Fife.
"We are delighted to announce that, in partnership with Scottish Rugby, Matt Wilson has joined us as a full-time development officer," the club said.
"Previously, this role at the club was only part-time.
"This is a major step for the club, and reflects our ongoing commitment to growing rugby, and providing the best experience for all our players, coaches, and members.
"Matty brings a wealth of experience to the role. He is our first XV captain, our club captain, and under-15s head coach, has been involved in so many areas of the club over the years, and has came right through the ranks, from minis to seniors.
"His deep understanding of our players, coaches, and community makes him the perfect person to lead this new chapter.
"In his role, Matty will focus on player development, increasing participation across all youth age groups, supporting our coaches, and leading new programs and initiatives designed to strengthen rugby in our community.
"Together, Matty and the club have exciting plans in the pipeline, from new initiatives for young players and coaches, to community events, to programs that will benefit all members.
"We’re excited to have him on board and look forward to working closely with Scottish Rugby to make a real impact."
Wilson began his journey with the club whilst in primary school and, at the time of his 100th senior appearance, Dunfermline said had "been a stalwart" ever since, progressing through the age groups to become captain of the first XV.
They added: "Matthew goes beyond just playing, having been massively involved with the growth of the club over his time with us as the development officer, encouraging many of our young members to sign up over the years."
