Dunfermline Track and Field race at scottishathletics meet

A large number of athletes with Dunfermline Track and Field headed to Glasgow recently to take part in the opening scottishathletics Indoor League (SAIL) match of the season.

The Emirates Arena played host to the meet, which saw members of the club impress in under-12, under-14, under-16 and under-18 age groups by posting personal bests (PBs) and high-placed finishes.

In the latter, Lottie Thomas maintained her fine form from last season by racing to first place in the 60 metres, whilst posting a PB of 8.05 seconds, as well as third spot in the 400m, with another best time of 59.59.

Caitlin Chalmers notched up a win in her high jump event, with a leap of 1.50m, and placed fourth in the shot put, whilst Riley Gardiner was fifth in the 60m (7.85, PB) and seventh in the 800m (2:20, PB), and Molly Robinson was sixth in the 60m hurdles with a PB of 11.60.

In the under-12 age group, debutant Noemi Service clocked two best performances in the 600m (10.14) and long jump (2.89m), placing 11th and seventh respectively, whilst Lucy Kinnear was sixth in the 60m (10.01) and seventh in the long jump (3.01m).

There was a fourth place for Blake Sharp in the 600m (2:10), as there was for Mara Lowe in the 'B' string race in a time of 2:05.

Some of Dunfermline Track and Field's more established performers stepped up an age group to under-14s, and they did so admirably.

Alice Thomas achieved third places in both the 800m and the long jump, with the latter included a 3.88m PB, whilst Millie Gordon achieved bests of 9.95 in the 60m, and 4.98m in the shot put.

On his indoor debut, Tristan Johnson placed 10th, with best times of 9.75 and 31.23 respectively, in both the 60m and 200m, and Eve Beveridge's best performance came in finishing eighth in the high jump.

In the under-16 category, Poppy Warner was third in the 300m, and there was a fourth place over 800m for Alfie Whyte, with a PB of 2:19.

Pippa Rambaut achieved a pair of new bests in the 200m (28.4) and long jump (3.52m), placing fifth and 10th respectively, whilst Ana Stobie placed seventh over 60m in a new best time of 8.72.

There were ninth place finishes for Finlay Gibson in the 60m (8.74, PB) and 200m, and Cole Gray was 10th and 13th in the 400m (67.4) and shot put (3.85m).

The U16s were well represented, and the following athletes’ best performances were as follows. Finlay Gibson 9 th spots in the 60m (8.74s) PB and 200m.
