Hundreds of supporters, current and former members, and people within the community turned out to celebrate 25 years of Aberdour Shinty Club.

Founded by Lisa MacColl back in 2001, a quarter of a century of putting the sport on the West Fife map, as well as numerous achievements on the field, was celebrated at the weekend.

The club, who play their matches at Silver Sands, hosted a family fun day on Saturday before hosting a 'Silver Jubilee' ceilidh in a specially set-up marquee.

Those in attendance danced the night away to the sound of the Gallivanters Ceilidh Band, before a shinty festival for school pupils was held on Monday, rounding off a memorable few days.

Aberdour have two men's, and one women's, team competing in the senior shinty leagues, as well a vibrant youth section.

Club head coach MacColl, who expressed her gratitude to committee members, volunteers, and those involved with Aberdour Festival for their support, said: "It probably exceeded all expectations.

"It's been a fantastic weekend from start to finish.

"The weather definitely helped us, but I don't think we could've asked any more of the weekend.

"The people, the community sport, the engagement, everyone that's helped us get there - it's been a lot of hard work.

"It was a lot of hard work and all came together, accumulating in what was just a brilliant celebration.

"Who would've thought, 25 years ago, when I did a taster in Aberdour primary school, with P5, that we'd be here, now, 25 years later, with 400 people plus at a fun day, and 250 people in a marquee having a ceilidh.

"You just could never have imagined it."
