CRICKET Scotland's visit to McKane Park, on Sunday, saw a run packed day in the Men's Regional Super Series T20 round two with the Caledonian Highlanders getting key wins from both their matches to get into pole position in the District table.

As the day progressed well over 100 spectators watched some abrasive batting by the three teams which featured a number of Scotland's T20 side which took part in the last World Cup.

It was a big day for Dunfermline and Carnegie Cricket Club and it was a case of all hands on deck to ensure things went smoothly.

Club chairman, Dejesh Deendalayan, commented: “We were honoured to be asked to host such a prestigious event and I would like to praise all the club members who came along to offer assistance during the day.

“It all ensured that everything went according to plan and congratulations must go to Caledonian Highlanders for pulling off that last over win in the closing game.”

Eastern Knights took on Western Warriors in the first game and the East side controlled things from the start.

Scotland player, Ollie Hairs, batted well at the top of the order and made 48 in only 38 balls, and an aggressive knock from Johnathan Van zyl saw them make 166 in their 20 overs.

Western Warriors made an indifferent start and were four wickets down for 40, including internationalist Brandon McMullen for only 4, and while they recovered a little, they were all out in only 17 overs.

Eastern Knights 166 for 4, O Hairs 48, J Van Zyl 43 not out, L Brown 23, O Jones 2 for 36.

Western Warriors 105, O Gould 33, O Jones 30, R Holey 4 for 20, S Tekale 2 for 19.

A bad day for the Warriors was complete when they lost to the Caledonian Highlanders in the afternoon game.

The Highlanders put together a score of 149, mainly thanks to Jamie Dunk hitting 77, and Scotland player Michael Leask making 25, but the West lads suffered three run outs in their reply and only McMullen and Ollie Jones got going, with former Dunfermline player, Saffy Sharif taking three wickets for the Caley side.

Caledonian Highlanders 149 for 7, J Dunk 77, M Leask 25, O Jones 2 for 16.

Western Warriors 136, B McMullen 50, O Jones 49, S Shariff 3 for 15.

The final game was a really tight affair with the Highlanders winning in the last over, to top the table after two phases of the six which are planned for the District T20 tournament.

The Knights batted well in their innings with Van zyl, and Chris McBride, completing half centuries and the total of 189 looked a difficult one to match.

But the Highlanders reply started well with Leask looking impressive and completing a swift half century, as did Ryan Brown, and it put them in a strong position.

The Knights hit back and took two wickets, but Ollie Davidson and Siram Muramalla, kept their cool and got eight runs off the last over to win the match.

Eastern Knights 189 for 4, J Van zyle 54, C McBride 50 not out, L Brown 42, J Davidson 2 for 37.

Caledonian Highlanders 190 for 3, M Leask 66, R Brown 62, S Muramalla 24 not out, O Davidson 20 not out.
