ANOTHER dreadful batting performance saw Dunfermline and Carnegie lose a second successive East of Scotland 1st Division fixture, when RH Corstorphine 2nd XI came to McKane Park on Saturday.
Having lost seven wickets for two runs at the end of their innings the previous week at Tranent and Preston Village, batting first on Saturday, after winning the toss, DCCC were 0 for three after two overs, meaning they had lost 10 wickets for 2 runs over the past two games, an incredible statistic!
Bilal Amjad managed to avoid the carnage and top scored with 21, but only Geets Grover and Muhammad Ahsan made double figures as the innings folded in 19 overs for only 79.

The wet weather of Thursday and Friday had seen a small amount of water get under the covers meaning the pitch gave the bowlers some assistance and when RH Corstorphine began their innings Zane Schlebusch struck twice and Muhammad Shafiq dismissed one of the openers, leaving them 15 for 3 and in trouble.
But a couple of dropped catches by the home side proved costly and careful batting by Dan Kelly and Mumar Khan saw them home in 33 overs, with five wickets in hand.
Despite the defeat DCCC are still top of the 1st Division table at the half way stage through defeats for nearest challengers Watsonians 2nd XI.
Dunfermline and Carnegie skipper, Vasu Reddy, is looking for a lot better when the second half of the season starts this Saturday and his team travel to meet Murrayfield/Dafs in the shadow of the international rugby stadium.

The DCCC reply got off to a bad start, with Waseem Khan falling early, but number three bat, Verma, joined Arav Dejesh in a match winning partnership of 169, and he completed his century in less than 80 balls.
The win sees the twos 17 per cent clear, in second top spot in the Division 2 table, and only one per cent behind leaders Grange 3rd XI.
