Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts kicked off their preparations for the upcoming season with a friendly win over Lochore Welfare on Saturday.

The East of Scotland League, Second Division side welcomed their opponents, who play one tier above, to Dalgety Bay for their first warm-up match.

It proved a valuable workout, and an opportunity to build fitness across the squad, although several of them were unavailable due to being on holiday.

Swifts were able to give game time to a number of their summer signings, and also enjoyed a confidence building 2-0 win over their neighbours.

Talisman Finlay Shearer, so often a go-to for goals, was on the mark again for the home side, whose other goal came from Kendal Forbes.

Swifts, who have, so far, added Anthony McAndrew, Lucas Reilly, Finlay Kerr, Fynn Lawson, Ben Pollock, Dale Wotherspoon, Cameron Girvan, Dylan Harrison, and Forbes, into their ranks, host Lowland League East Cowdenbeath this Saturday.

That game kicks off at midday, and they are also set to play Leven United, Edinburgh Community, Swifts Amateurs, and Kirkcaldy and Dysart, in further warm-up games.

Meanwhile, Oakley United had been due to host Greig Park Rangers in a friendly at Blairwood Park on Tuesday, but it was called off.

Alain Davidson's newly-promoted First Division side are now hoping to arrange another fixture for tomorrow (Thursday) evening.

Their divisional rivals for the upcoming season, Crossgates Primrose, are due to begin their friendly schedule on Tuesday (July 7) at home to Cowdenbeath, with kick off at 7.30pm.
