Dunfermline 18 Harris Academy 0

DUNFERMLINE returned to winning ways and consolidated their place in Caledonia Division One by sweeping aside Harris on Saturday.

Caine McIntyre’s side returned to their familiar surroundings of McKane Park after a near 500-mile round-trip to Caithness in their previous fixture.

The winter weather made conditions underfoot difficult for both teams but the Blues’ strong pack ensured the visitors gained little forward momentum throughout the opening 40 minutes.

Dunfermline controlled the ball well and enjoyed the vast majority of possession but only had Adam Fraser’s penalty to show for their first-half efforts, while Stewart Walker missed a similar opportunity for Harris.

McIntyre’s team continued to dominated proceedings after the break and a sustained period of pressure paid off eventually as Thomson crashed over for an unconverted score, before Craig McKenzie grabbed the Blues’ second try of the afternoon which they again failed to convert.

The hosts continued to press and were rewarded when McKenzie crossed for his, and Dunfermline’s third, try to take the score to 18 points but despite their best efforts to secure a bonus point, Harris defended stoutly to prevent any further scoring.

Dunfermline take a break from league action this weekend before playing Glenrothes in a rearranged match at McKane on Saturday, February 11. Kick off is at 3pm.
