DUNFERMLINE Rugby Club enjoyed a double success recently when two of their youth teams picked up regional trophies.
The club’s Colts (under-18s) and under-16 sides were in action at the Caledonia Youth Cup finals day in St Andrews on April 30, bringing together teams from across the Caledonia region at under-15, under-16 and under-18 level.
Three trophies are competed for at each age group by those who have qualified for the finals day, with teams from places such as Moray and the Highlands, Aberdeen, Perthshire and Angus all competing.
Madras Rugby Club hosted the event and the McKane Park club’s under-16s took on Huntly in their Shield final, while the Colts went up against Ellon for the under-18s Shield.
Roared on by many of the club’s senior squad and its supporters, the under-16s were first in action and got the better of their opponents to lift the trophy.
Then it was the turn of the Colts to enjoy success of their own, beating their Aberdeenshire opponents comfortably 50-22 to complete a West Fife one-two.
