HEAVY snow has caused disruption across Dunfermline and West Fife this morning.

Within the last few minutes, police have arrived at an accident close to the Sainsbury's store near Rosyth after a car went over the side of the road close to the bridge.

Hospital Hill was at a standstill just before 12pm after a bus broke down in the inside lane heading towards Dunfermline town centre and then a car also got into difficulties in the outside lane. Traffic was also slow in the opposite direction as snow covered the roads.

There have also been reports of cars broken down and causing build-ups close to the Tesco store in Dunfermline town centre.

West Fifers have been out in force trying to clear major routes.

Press reader Katie Simpson sent in these photographs, saying: "Looking for a bit of praise for the three heroes that are currently clearing Aberdour Road by Plover Crescent!"

Weather warnings for snow and ice have been issued for Fife.

The Met Office have announced yellow warnings for both snow and ice.

Snow is expected to fall into the afternoon today (Friday) with ice set to cause difficult driving conditions tomorrow morning.
