ATHLETIC manager James McPake has been nominated for PFA Scotland's manager of the year prize.

This morning, the organisation has revealed its four-man shortlist for the accolade - and the Pars boss has made the cut.

Voted for by fellow managers across the SPFL, McPake's work in guiding Dunfermline back to the Championship, in his first season as gaffer, has not gone unnoticed by his peers.

In a memorable campaign, Athletic won the League One title by 14 points, and lost just one of their 36 matches - at Montrose in October.

His team set a number of new club records, which, include, the fewest league losses in a league season; a club record of 24 league matches unbeaten; the fewest goals conceded in a league season overall, at home and away from home; and for the number of clean sheets kept, which sits at 24 overall, and 21 in the league.

Yesterday (Thursday), McPake was announced as the Glen's Vodka SPFL League One Manager of the Season, and he will now go up for PFA Scotland's award, across all four SPFL divisions, at their awards evening on Sunday.

Celtic's Ange Postecoglou, who has led the Hoops to the Premiership title and League Cup, and could complete a domestic treble by beating Inverness Caledonian Thistle in next month's Scottish Cup final, has been shortlisted, as has ex-Par, Darren Young, who guided Stirling Albion to the League Two title, and St Mirren's Stephen Robinson, who led the Buddies to the top six in the top flight.

Also on Sunday, Pars captain Kyle Benedictus - who, this week, was named as the cinch SPFL League One Player of the Year - and team-mate, Matty Todd, will go up against Queen of the South's Ruari Paton, and Airdrieonians' Calum Gallagher, for the PFA Scotland SPFL League One Player of the Season accolade.
