Fife Food and Drink Week is kicking off this weekend with a range of food related activities.

The week will celebrate food and drink from across the Kingdom, with a range of events takin place in West Fife.

One such event is at Dunfermline’s Abbot House where you can learn to carve a spoon. This half-day workshop will teach you to make a teaspoon in green wood, and you’ll carve the spoon with both straight knives and hooked knives.

All the tools and materials needed will be provided at the workshop, which is suitable for adults aged 18 and above. The workshop will take place on Saturday, March 9.

There will also be a Tipsy Tea at The Den at Culross. This event will include savoury and sweet treats, coffee, and tea and is being held to celebrate International Women’s Day and Mother’s Day over the weekend of March 9 and 10.

There is also the option to add prosecco or cocktails to this tipsy tea!

During the week, the Sundial Café in Limekilns will be featuring a special menu to highlight some of the delicious food from the Kingdom. On the menu will be local smoked salmon, Tikka sandwich featuring local spice blends, cakes with Deborah Bees jams and Fife hot chocolate.

Gael Wilkinson, of Kin Bees, will also be running an event at Abbot House called ‘Show me the honey’. The event will be a talk and tasting experience to help people understand what honey is, why and how it is made, and the harvesting process. There is now a waiting list for this talk.

Garvock House Hotel in Dunfermline are also offering a staycation. When booked directly, you can enjoy a three-course dinner from their set menu, followed by an overnight stay and a full Scottish breakfast.

For those with a love of arts and crafts, Abbot House will also be hosting origami and elevenses, an event to teach people to fold their own little origami teacups. This event will have a break to enjoy some tea, coffee, and treats from Prost Café on Thursday, March 14.

Alice, from Alice Rainbow Yoga, will be hosting a Mindful Breakfast, also at Abbot House. The event will explore mindful eating with treats from Bevis Bakes.

There will also be a Sunday Night Treat at Dunfermline’s Garvock House Hotel. This will be a three course candlelit dinner on Sunday, March 17, followed by a relaxing stay at the hotel.

And in Aberdour there will be a Taste of the Meadows event on Sunday, March 17. This will be hosted by Slow Food cook and food writer Wendy Barrie and regenerative farmer and author Bosse Dahlgren at their venue on the Fife Coastal Path.

It will be a chance to discover why meadows are so important for local food production and Bosse will take you on his farming journey.
